Hi, I’m Jared Whyms — a builder at heart and a lifelong student of maps, movement, and the strange ways our world actually works. I create digital tools, maps, and interactive experiences that help people understand distance, geography, and travel in more intuitive ways. From distance calculators to geography-based platforms, my work focuses on turning everyday locations into moments of discovery. But beyond the tools, I’ve always been drawn to the edges of the map — the places where time behaves oddly, borders blur, gravity feels unreliable, and nature refuses to follow the rules we expect. That curiosity is what inspired this book. Through Beyond the Map, my goal is simple: to remind people that even in the age of satellites, science, and GPS, our planet still holds real, documented mysteries worth slowing down for.
